Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has announced its biggest acquisition yet, buying Israeli cybersecurity firm Wiz for a staggering $32 billion. The move is seen as a major step in strengthening Google Cloud’s security capabilities and competing with tech giants like Microsoft and Amazon.

Founded in 2020 by Assaf Rappaport and his team, Wiz has quickly become a leader in cloud security, offering cutting-edge solutions that help businesses detect and mitigate risks. The company’s rapid rise has earned it a spot among the top security providers, with a significant share of Fortune 100 companies relying on its technology.

Following the announcement, Alphabet’s stock took a slight dip, as investors reacted cautiously to the high acquisition cost. However, experts see this as a strategic move that could significantly enhance Google’s cybersecurity strength in the long run.

Rappaport expressed enthusiasm about joining forces with Google Cloud, emphasizing their shared vision for securing the future of cloud and AI technologies. His leadership has been key to Wiz’s success, and he is expected to play an important role in integrating its security expertise into Google’s ecosystem.

The deal is still awaiting regulatory approval and is expected to close in 2026. Both companies are now focused on ensuring a smooth transition, aiming to deliver even stronger security solutions to businesses worldwide.
